CoS Questions Forum - 11/16/06 01:55 PM

Call this one of my pet peeves...

For those of you who continually fail to read and comprehend the small print attached to the CoS Question Forum, allow me to post it in a slightly larger format. Please note the emphasized portion.

Questions related to the Church of Satan (membership, website, officials, etc) - Please note only Moderators and members of the Priesthood are allowed to reply to topics posted here. All other replies will be deleted.

Now you have no excuse for not knowing that you shouldn't be replying to posts you didn't start.

Thank you.

I agree, Witch LKRice, it is irritating, but I do not think it will change...

Your intentions, though are in the right place.

Re: CoS Questions Forum - 11/16/06 10:10 PM

Yes. I just made this unfortunate mistake.

As stated in the post I am sure all will view, I have the habit of going to the active topics button and viewing post.

I reply to them oft times without looking at the forum in which they reside.

How foolish of me.

Lesson learned.

I was in the process of doing such and then happened upon your post.

Re: CoS Questions Forum - 11/17/06 03:24 AM

I suspect that this thread could become a long list of excuses why people can't read. Here's mine:

I was busy walking my dog near an internet cafe and accidently tripped up on a loose paving stone. I careered into a florist's, bounced off there onto the front window of the post office and was catapulted through the door of the internet cafe, landing on one of the keyboards in such a way that I not only managed to accidently surf to Satannet, but I somehow entered in my login and password and replied to an enquiry in the COS Questions Forum.

Anyone could make that mistake!

Re: CoS Questions Forum - 11/17/06 07:23 AM

Possibly this could result in a banning of people who do not seem to be able to read the repeated instructions and make more than one offense on this?

I dont think so...

You can start your own thread and reply to replies in your own thread. There's nothing wrong with that. (Although CoS Members are often encouraged to ask downstairs.)

But, just because you have the ability to reply to the posts of others, doesn't mean you have permission to do so.

The Sad Truth - 11/23/06 12:39 AM

Until the forum format makes it physically impossible for any other person other then a moderator to respond the CoS Questions Forum it will continue to happen on occasion.

Until that time how about posting a locked sticky within the CoS Question Area with a headline that says “ONLY MODERATORS ARE ALLOWED TO REPLY IN THIS AREA” or something to that effect. Maybe that will help

Mistakes can and do occur.

Mistakes can be fixed.

Stupidity can't.

So while I agree making it impossible for others to reply to topics already started can resolve the issue, why should the board be designed to substitute stupidity?

It also serves as a filter.

I once worked for a Marketing Research firm that double checked everything, because the data was so important. The point I am making is having a double check or the policy stated twice doesn't hurt to try to stop those occasional accidents. I only made the suggestion to try to elevate some of the annoyance that LKRice has with what she calls her "Pet Peeve."

Perhaps, this post would serve its purpose better if it were "stickied" within the introduction section.

Re: CoS Questions Forum - 12/15/06 11:22 PM

Literacy n : the quality or state of being literate.

Literate adj 1 a : characterized by education and culture. b : able to read and write 2 a versed in literature or creative writing b : having knowledge or competence.

While I will agree with you that there are alot of stupid people who know how to read it is an important commodity for the intelligent. It is not so much having the ability to read that makes you smart it is what you do with that ability that does. Alot of dumb asses read alot of stupid things or nothing at all and when given the opportunity to read something worth while, they turn away from it.

The people who post in the Church of Satan's Questions and Answers Forum without permission are the same people who cross the street when it says Don't walk". They are bound to get hit.

Get back to me on that after you've spent one month writing and testing a step-by-step, painstakingly prepared operating manual for a software system only to have your customer call within the first 20 minutes after shipping to ask a question that is answered on the second half of PAGE ONE.

RTFM.

This is a systemic problem, not a localized one.

It seems to me (but I don't know this for sure) that posting something as the start of a new thread would use up the same amount of board space (or a very similar amount of space) as adding the post to an existing thread, since you would be putting that frame somewhere either way?

This isn't the proper place for an introduction nor was this a proper introduction.

There's an entire Introductions forum for that sort of thing.

Your questions about Satanism are easily answerable by going where you say you already know where to go.

 Quote:

Well.

Hmmmm.

That sound like either

a) A potential debate---which we don't do.

b) Private tutoring, which is unlikely to be free,

or

c) Religious/Psychological confusion, which requires a professional counselor.

All other matters can be discussed in the various open forums. Only members have the privilege of going "downstairs" to utilize the expanded forums.

Thank you for your interest,

Ygraine

Re: CoS Questions Forum - 01/20/08 05:20 AM

I am not here to debate i am here with interest and a open mind.

tutoring is not what i am here for i am here to learn more and make some friends while learning.

and as far as Religious/Psychological confusion no confusion is needed for anything.

Re: CoS Questions Forum - 01/20/08 05:57 AM

I've worked as hard as I intend to without being rude. I have given you adequate suggestions and even an out.

so, what the Hell is it you want?

You want to discuss your new Satanic feeling? Great. Discuss it in the forums.

You want a private conversation? Well, assuming you have the availability of pm's, if anyone resonated with your posts they'd probably pm you.

Those three things I listed demonstrated something I don't think you get: Each Satanist is an individual and therefore each Satanist has a unique perspective. You may find 100 who share some aspect of your experience and another 10,000 who don't.

Please state clearly what it is you're looking for so I can clearly tell you what we have in stock!

No one can help you understand where "this desire" is coming from. It is your desire!

I get this feeling you want to hear that some mystical magical thing is calling you forth....or some such nonsense. But that is not what we're about.

This church can offer you nothing. And it is looking less and less likely that you can offer anything to it.

One of the requirements for joining the Board is "Adulthod". It sounds to me as though some are making a request to Admin to treat all members as children?

Another point: As adults, it seems to me that we should ALL realize that the fact is THIS IS THE WAY THE BOARD REQUIRES IT, AND THAT'S THE WAY IT WILL BE. Period!
How often have we all told someone, "Because I said so." ?

They called me Cassandra???? - 09/27/08 09:51 PM

First off I believe in both God and Satan, but remain unaffiliated. Personally I find beauty in both light and darkness. I have come to you all for help.
Ever since I was a little girl I have had strange dreams where beings I knew were not "normal" would refer to me as Cassandra. When I was about 13 or so I they got more intense. One day, I had a "vision" I suppose in my kitchen. Suddenly my back yard wasn't there, instead grey mountains. There were beings I couldnt make out for they were blurry, but they said "Cassandra it's near time for you to come home." All I could see at that point was a bleeding throne. Just as quickly as the vision came it went. I had one more dream after that and then it all went away. I thought I was crazy, I told a couple friends who thought I was on drugs, which I wasn't. I didn't tell others. I knew it sounded crazy. The whole Cassandra thing has always been in the back of my mind, but I never had another dream or vision, until recently. Over the last year the dreams have come back. I am twenty five now, and have had nothing happen of significance recently to explain it. I hear the same voices, the same come home speech- sometimes at night before I go to sleep. I know I sound schizophrenic, but I don't think Im crazy. I wouldnt even be on here, but I have heard satanic bands reference Cassandra, but I can't find any grounded information on her. I was hoping someone would know who or what Cassandra is. I know I sound crazy, but this has been going on my whole life and it would help if I at least knew what the dreams were referencing. I would greatly appreciate any help.
