I have to admit, I am not much of a practitioner of ritual magic. My approach to Satanism deals more with the philosophical aspects.

But I did something out of the ordinary; I went to a good old fashioned botanica yesterday and had a tarot reading with a voodoo twist. Upon leaving the place, I realized that I felt lighter than air, I felt like a million bucks, and that my mind was clear. It was like an inward spring cleaning.

It got me thinking; can I take rituals and magic from other religions/cultures that I find interesting (Shinto, some aspects of Hinduism, and Voodoo) and create my own spells and hymns to heighten my emotions?

To some, this might seem like a silly question. But the experience was really something that made the gears in my mind turn.

Why not? Magus LaVey himself did just that. Even The Satanic Bible lists the names of gods and devils of other cultures in The Infernal Names.

Do whatever you like. Therein lies the application of what we call suspension of disbelief.

That's what I feel like after meditating. You might want to try standard meditations that require you to focus on a single small object (like a candle flame) or a mantra while you block out all other thoughts.

Trust me, I don't mean this in any "spiritual" way. To me, meditation has always seemed to open up communication between my conscious and unconscious mind.

Just a suggestion.

That's actually perfect. I have come to believe, after studying several other traditions, that "magic", for whatever one takes it for, originates within our psyche. I tend to believe that if I can change my "inner" world, my outer world has no choice except to follow suit.
Of course, this is merely a theory.

Makes perfect sense. You are what you believe.
