For some reason, when I try to upload a new avatar, the old one still shows up. I've tried refreshing and clearing my cookies, but it's still not updating.

I'm using IE 6.0, Windows XP. Any ideas?

I just gave it a try and for whatever reason it wouldn't work.
I changed the avatar to a 'stock' avatar with success. From there I was able to reload my mug.

You may want to kill any apps that would be uploading data which could interfere, especially if it runs on the same port, or even give another browser a whirl. Of course there is always the ever popular restart.

Let me know if this is/isn't of any help.

Still a no-go. I was able to change to an avatar, but when I tried to upload a new file, it went right back the previous one that I'd uploaded before.

I did a quick check and the stock avatars don't overwrite your uploaded files, so changing back and forth doesn't help.

I had the same problem yesterday. I uploaded it twice and today the new avatar is up. But I'm not sure, if I selected the radio button left to "Upload your Avatar ..." every time.

I did select it. That's why it's so strange.

I am using Windows XP as well.

When I change my avatar, I have to first choose "I no longer want to have an avatar."

Then I click the submit button. Once that goes through, there is only a silhouette with a question mark where the old avatar used to be.

Once I get the image with the question mark, I go back into edit mode and upload the new avatar. This works for me every time. It should work for you as well.

Warlock Noir,

Once you have submitted your new Avatar have your tried clicking on "my home"

At this point you will still see your old avatar.

But then I usually click refresh while holding down the CTRL key.

That usually does it for me.

Just curious... Have you tried deleting your temporary Internet files?

This kept happening to me, it turns out the image was out by 1 pixel. It didn't say anything, just chucked me back onto the main page.

Might this be why?

Indeed I did, but then I realized something else. At the time I was uploading, I was also using NetZero HighSpeed. I found out a few minutes ago while messing with settings that this program caches internet files on it's own to speed things up. I cleared that and bingo! It worked!

That's what's always so funny about computer bugs. It's often a small thing that is easy to overlook.

And there is no intended delay after uploading a new avatar to give the admins time to check it?
