I don't share your distaste; I grew up with algebraic notation and have used it for years. But I'm willing to defer to the house style -- descriptive notation it is!

I remember reading an article once many years ago about a scientist who had decided to experiment in this area. One of the things that really stuck out was when he wrote about thinking of what might happen if he burned a plant that he had hooked up to an EEG. He states that immediately the needle started to move very quickly in a manner that would indicate a highly agitated state. He thus concluded that plants are telepathic.

I'll have to do some research to see if I can relocate that article. I can't promise that it will be any time soon, though.

Well, "to be useful" & "to be percieved by humans" is too general. I wouldnīt know how to use something I canīt percieve. Obviously?
