Ave Satanas- What is an (internet Satanist)?i dont recall the doktor writing about that in any of his books. I mean how much of a Satanist are you sitting at a keyboard ?   HAIL BEHERIT.

Might this fit the bill? It isn't by Dr. LaVey, but then he died in 1997, before the Internet became anywhere near as pervasive as it is today. (You know, Thomas Jefferson never said anything about telephones!)

You're either a Satanist or you're not. However I belive it to be an often thing when some people define themselves as Satanists simply by identifying themselves with some online group, without stepping away from the online world and looking into other aspects of Satanism. These are people that eventually tire of identifying themselves as one thing, and then move on to the next.

To be sure, many Satanists use the Internet, some quite often. The Internet is a great tool, after all. Random Stranger, for example, pointed out that it's great for those with limited mobility in some way.
But, I define an "Internet Satanist" as someone who puffs themselves up online, but is basically just another "role player" who is using the medium to create an elaborate, but ultimately fake, persona, and indulge in delusions of grandeur.
Anyone can make a webpage and declare himself the High Priest of his own made-up Satanic church. Likewise, anyone can lie about his accomplishments or exaggerate about his assets, while spending his whole life eating Cheetos while watching daytime soaps at his mom's house. The online talk doesn't even remotely match the real-world action, basically.

Here’s the really creepy part; the internet is not a distilled collection of especially stupid people, there are in fact more of them roaming around freely everywhere at nearly every level of society. The internet just gives a small minority of them the opportunity to exhibit themselves in a different way. To paraphrase George Carlin; observe how fucked up the average person is, then realize half of everyone is more fucked up than that. A disturbing thought.

I almost feel physically dirty even replying to this post but here goes. How much of a satanist are you sitting at a keyboard ? The same satanist as I am when I go shopping for groceries, when I play board games with my daughter or when I go out for a chinese meal. What is an internet satanist ?, I think you'll find it's a satanist...............who uses the internet, to do research, talk to like minded people etc. I believe many people (not just satanists  ) use the internet in this way too ! I am now going to have a hot shower, a stiff drink and a lie down.

Agreed. I have observed many other ways of false exhibition other than a the internet profile combo. Most common are those who drive a $40,000-$50,000 automobile but live in a hovel or some other condemned tenament while living off of food stamps and welfare. A similar situation of misrepresentation, is the one of the rich idiot offspring who's parents "buy" them a college degree. It is quite common in society for idiots to profess their "wisdom" in the form of quick memorization cramming skills and/or bribing skills while basing it all on that "fancy sheet of paper".

Are you not aware that the SIGs (Special Interest Groups) MAIN form of communication/interaction is through an online message board?
That should answer your question! 
Also, I can think of one high ranking member of the hierarchy that makes his living behind a keyboard .

I once knew someone who would charge others to use his personal computer. Now that's an internet Satanist if I ever heard of one . Kidding aside! When questioned by others as to why he does this, he responded, "it's my only source of entertainment". I sat back and thought to myself, how boring and dull of life must you live that your only source of fun is the internet? Where have all the great thinkers and doers gone? I enjoy the internet, it allows fast access to information, keeping in contact with friends and family who are on the other side of the planet, maybe one day the solar system. It is indeed a unique pleasure to use. It most certainly isn't the only pleasure. There's alot of bullshit out there but anyone with enough common sense can muster through it and find access to the right information. There are many intelligent people online, Magister Ventrue quickly comes to mind! There is no such thing as an "internet Satanist". There are Satanists who use the internet for fun and access to the things I have mentioned. "Indulgence,not compulsion" as always.

The internet is very useful in gathering and communicating with like-minded individuals. I have enriched my life a great deal by interacting with others here on this board and elsewhere on the internet.
I have experienced interactions some great minds that I would have never met without the internet. Such individuals have helped to quicken some lessons, and have offered different perspectives to broaden my understanding of things.
I am wondering.. why are you here if you don't also see this medium as being beneficial? Certainly you must gain something out of this, or you wouldn't be here.
To to answer your question.. I am a much improved Satanist from sitting behind my keyboard. I have gained knowledge and attitudes which have brought me material gain, better control over my reality, and a much better understanding of my religion.

I would like to add that I think it is fantastic that this very high standing member of the Church of Satan is so talented and wants to put forth such effort to work on the websites in the Satanic Network. It is quite a gift to all of us who appreciate it. Anyone who doesn’t appreciate the Magister’s work should not feel obligated to look at it. Those who do appreciate it get a lot out of it.
I find it silly and pointless to make rants about if it is Satanic or not to use the internet. A person of ANY religion can use the internet, just as a person of any religion can watch movies, play video games, listen to music, read, draw, or any other entertaining activity. I have a good job and I work hard all day, and so I really enjoy relaxing and spending time here after my day’s work and doing other things I need to do. If a person has an issue with the internet, then they should not use it. It’s that simple.
