I thought this the best place to post up my question

I just changed my avatar pix, however, its really small and i look pixellated

ive tried to put up a larger image but it wont allow it..yet i see others who have massive pixs in their avatars

Am i missing something or doing something wrong?
Any help would be appreciated as i dont want to stay looking pixellated...haha

Just upload a picture that is 150x200 pixels, that is 150 wide by 200 high, or less.

I recommend using photo editing software to manually change the size of your photo to the exact dimension desired, and do not exceed the maximum dimensions allowed for avatars. This will prevent automatic resizing which results in the pixelation.

There is a program out that is freeware called Irfan View (you can download it here http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm ) and it will resize photos without losing much if any clarity in the photo.

it wouldnt let me upload the pix unless it was the correct dimension

i used the Microsoft Photo Editor to downsize my pix and it caused the pixellation, everything was fine until it reached the correct dimensions allowable on LttD.

i will download the freeware and try it out and if it doesnt help im going to change my display pix again

I believe I am having a problem as well... I had downloaded my picture from a URL onto my profile, and it shows up in My Home, but it does not in my actual profile. Have I done something wrong? I am not sure what size the picture is, but should it not be the correct size if it had allowed me to download it? :confused:

Ok, thank you. The only thing is; I have cleared my cookies many times (I do so about every 5 to 7 pages while online because of the viruses I have on my computer)... Would the fact that I do have viruses on my computer have any affect to this? Or maybe the fact that I am trying to view my own profile?

I'm no tech expert so I can't say whether a virus would do this or not. I do know that the most common cause of failure to see a new avatar is failure to update cookies.

Yes, that is it. That is the URL I used, and the picture as well. It is showing up in My Home and on these posts, but not in my actual profile (at least for myself). I have also just found out that I cannot see your picture in your actual profile, either, though I do see it on your posts. I have also just finished clearing my cookies, too. *Sigh.* I am guessing that my viruses are getting the best of my internet performance as well... I also just realized that, in my first post, the "confused" face did not show up, either (it only had the word and the : symbols, even though I clicked on the actual icon in the selection space)... Did it show up for you?

Now that you mention it, no, I am not seeing graemlins that you insert, but text. Are you using any kind of text modifier? If I use Keyman (used for typing European characters like umlauts) it often interferes with that.

No, I do not believe that I am... I am not even sure what that is, to tell you the truth. Do you think that maybe this could be caused by the viruses? *Sigh...* I am becoming quite frustrated with this old computer and it's bloody viruses... :(

My instinct says no, it is probably a computer setting that is causing the issue. Now, the virii might have changed your computer settings. Why haven't you cleaned them? There are free anti-virus programs available that do the job just fine.

Don't be so quick to blame all of your problems on viruses. Try either a different browser or upgrading your current one. Also make sure all of your regular updates have been installed.

Alright, I will try that. Thank you. The only reason I keep questioning if it is because of the viruses is because I have so many of them that are causing so many problems that it is hard to tell what is what. I have over 30 of them, and I have no way to cure them! :(

I have tried, but the person who previously owned this computer (it was given to me as a gift) had deleted the Internet Explorer files for some reason, so every time I try to download a cleaner, it will not fully work... I've tried numerous ones, and most will not even begin to download... There was one that I found that I was able to download, and it found the viruses, but then needed IE to clean them... I'm like a fish out of water!

Not to step over anyone's toes here but going here Free AVG Anti Viruse Program and also here Free AntiVir Personal Edition Classic both Anti virus programs are free and have daily virus database updates also free. Though you will need to get familiar with how each program scans you system files, and also how to put infected files into the vaults for cleaning and safely removal of the virus themselves.

Any person who is accessing the internet should have at the minimum one Anti Virus program updated daily to the current definition files, one Firewall program system set up on the pc, and at least one ad ware remover program to clean your system from ad ware. Also it is wise to learn about your Email program spam filter controls as well. I do really hope your are not doing any internet banking or buying products from the internet from this infected pc, because a hacker or a phishing program might just have your personal information now.

I... don't actually have enough money to do so... It's embarrasing to have to say that, but it's true! Besides, I said that I am not able to download most for the fact that I do not have IE on this computer... and no start up disk to reinstall it.

I don't have enough money to buy anti-virus programs... nor anything else. So I do not have to worry about that... Besides, I wouldn't anyways. Oh, and by the way Leviathan, I figured out what I was doing wrong with the gremlins... I was clicking on "no html/ubbcode"... Boy, do I not feel stupid now!

As everyone knows, all poems go under the "Music" forum because music can contain lyrics which can be read like poetry.

All music posts go under the "Movies" forum since most movies have soundtracks.

It gets a little confusing when dealing with art. We have a forum titled "Art & Artists" but your name must be Art to post there. If you don't meet this criteria, you must put all art posts under the "Poetry" forum.

Just make sure you don't go posting your poetry there or you will screw up a carefully constructed system that took months of question-asking to understand.

Yes, I have cleared them, too (the temp files). Though, as I have said, I do not have any version of IE... I have no Internet Explorer at all! That is why I have not been able to download/completely use any virus cleaners!

I know, I was only speaking for other anit-virus programs that I had tried before. I had checked out the one offered on here, and I am able to download it. I only had not yet because I had to sign off so that my friend could use the phone (I have dial up AOL; that is the browser I am using). I am downloading it right now, though. I do hope it works... I will let you and Lucif know if it does.
