I am not really sure what proper etiquette is in these matters, but I think it proper say that I will be requesting membership in The Church of Satan. While I have known that I am a Satanist for some time, I always thought I would wait until I was ready to join. Commitment is a serious thing to me, and I did not want join until I "was ready". Well, time has gone on, and I have gained an appreciation for the fact that, while Satanists are born, not made, there certainly is a process of growth and maturing. That shouldn't be a surprise. Life is like that, and what is Satanism, if not an accurate description of life? To make a long story longer, I feel it is time. Joining the Church will not change who I am. The only outward difference is that I will be proudly carrying the red card in my wallet. But I do find that taking concrete steps strengthens both my commitment and resolve in any endeavor I undertake.

Congratulations - and I agree, it doesn't change you, it just confirms what you already knew. I also waited until I was sure and ready, so I can understand where you're coming from. I discovered LaVey's work in late 94 as a teen, but didn't actually sign up until I think 2000/1. Which is not to say membership doesn't have its privileges, even on this board.

How long before the upstairs has only me? But seriously, congratulations on taking the plunge. You may well be the first Rooster to join the Church of Satan! Although I don't think the Church is allowed to disclose that kind of information. Unfortunately my own plans to become a member were thwarted, as I'll be changing address before the processing would be completed.

But seriously, congratulations on taking the plunge. You may well be the first Rooster to join the Church of Satan! Although I don't think the Church is allowed to disclose that kind of information. Thank you. Incidentally, I was going to request a name change. I mean, imagine...time goes on...word gets out that Roho is so very photogenic...there is a press opportunity nearby...I get a call...I am introduced as Agent Rooster. But my wife says not to worry...keep the name. I wonder what she meant by that?

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he recently said he has no problem with people referring to him as just Nemo. You may be correct. Magister Nemo would have to clarify. I personally feel that unless you hold a higher title than the aformentioned person or they tell you not to refer to them by a given title then you respect the title and the person and address them accordingly. I know this isn't the Military, but that's a hard mindset to break.

To tell you the truth...The few times I have directly addressed Magister Nemo, I have felt like the Scarecrow addressing the Wizard of Oz. When I read his posts, I heard this loud, booming, authoritative voice. I have no problem showing him respect. I never questioned if you could/could not show respect. I was simply reminding you he was a Magister. I have seen several perspective members ignore the titles of Priesthood members or just not notice them. I've no issues with you, so do not take it personal.

Thank you, Tier Instict. I see, on reading from the link you provide, that you are also fortunate enough to be living with your best friend. It's great, isn't it? Yes! I enjoy every moment that we share together. Though I grew up in SC, I have often confessed that NC may be the most beautiful state I have visited. Do you find time to explore the wonderful mountains there? Interesting. I also grew up in South Carolina. To tell you the truth I could not wait to leave the wretched state. Wow, I'm little late to this topic, and I haven't signed for membership yet.
But Congratulations anyway!
I remember my excitement when my first CoS medallion arrived in the mail, living so far away in this part of the world takes a long time to get to and a few attempts before had already failed, so when I first opened my mailbox and found an unfamiliar yellow USPS envelope, I yelled with joy! I still keep the empty yellow package with the HKP address and 'First Class International' stickers and the USPS Customs declaration green stickers. I wonder who's signature is on there, can't quite read it.....but point is I was so excited to get the Medallion, I wonder what it'll be like when I open the package.

I remember wanting to be a member for several years before I was old enough and then had the money to do so. As Magister Nemo said, it opens many doors. I originally became a member because (other than being a Satanist) I liked what Dr. LaVey had to say and for voicing how I felt I figured he deserved to be paid for his efforts.
I remember a friend of my brother's had said to me -"what's this you paid $100.00 for some card?"
It wasn't just "some card", besides special invitations and the like there were some very interesting "coincidences" that started to happen around and after that time!
Membership did allow me to have a really swell time in LA last year also!

The rite of receiving the red card... I love it when people share this experience. I remember that little shiver of excitement I couldn't contain when I opened my package. The show of respect to the Church, the sense of pride in affiliation... so many other things that are hard to describe... It's a great feeling, isn't it?

Thank you for the comments. "Herd Conformity" is my least favorite also. HA! I really screwed up the solo but did not have time to go back a fix it. I wrote 100 % of the music, 100 % of the lyrics, and played all guitar tracks on all four of the tracks on the PM myspace page. There is another site where you can download more tracks. Of those, I wrote 75% of the music and 100% of the lyrics. http://www.mp3.com/predatory_mindsetAs of now, I haven't been able to locate any new Satanic thinking non-pot-smoking band mates. Its really sad. I'm planning on buying some home recording software/hardware ASAP and begin writting/recording new stuff all by myself. But for all of the equipment I need, it will take me a bit to save up for it all. Thank you for taking the time out the listen to my stuff. It is appreciated! HS!

I have something more to add, it does seem they are done in batches as I have received my package today too! There have been few times in my life where I am at a complete loss for words to describe how I feel, this is certainly one of those occasions. $200 was a very small price to pay for this feeling alone, and well worth the wait!

Congratulations Roho on your decision! I remember well the excitement of joining up with my previous affiliation, and I cant imagine anything better. However, while I am intent on eventually joining the Church of Satan as well, I need to get a few other things straight in my life and up and running before that can be done. I can't wait though, and I encourage you to hold onto that feeling once you get your card for as long as you can! I do hope to join you downstairs as soon as possible!

I have to admit, all this talk makes me want to rush out and send my membership in, first thing. But as Phoenix said, that would take away from some other things I have to take care of right now...so I have to be patient. In the meantime, I study...I relish...I connect.

Not yet, but it is screaming to be laminated! For the time being I have it locked away nice and safe. Every now and then I take it out to stare upon for a brief moment, and replace it safely in its holder.
