That is one hot jesus! Maybe it is the bondage thing, I don't know.

To the orginial poster:

What do you mean by "respect christianity"? Do you mean you respect other people's right to choose to believe in whatever they want? Or do you mean you feel christianity has some good points or what?

I ask this question because I think you still have some lingering christianity ghosts. You say you embrace Satanism, yet you do not take down a symbol that represents christianity even though you want to. I think there is a reason for that. Not only are you having a difficult time getting yourself to take it down, it obviously bothers you that you haven't taken it down. It bothers you enough that you posted about it here and you notice the cross now every night.

Sometimes when people who have been raised in christian households realize they are Satanists, they have a difficult time letting go of their past religious traditions and beliefs. This is not a problem if it is not a problem to you. (For example, I still celebrate christmas, but it is a secular christmas celebration).

You might find that if you do something totally blasphemous it helps to affirm your break with your past religion and helps chase away the christianity ghosts. The first couple of Satanic Rituals I did were as blasphemous as I could get them in order to feel a tangible break with my traditional religion.

You might want to take down the cross and destroy it as a symbol of your embracing Satanism. (unless it will cause you a rash of shit with your family) If you are keeping it because someone you love gave it to you, then that is a different matter.

Be honest with yourself about what that cross means to you. You may have some lingering doubts about what will happen if you don't believe in jesus anymore. Nagging in the back of your mind, the worry that you will be subjected to torment and torture for all eternity. ( You know....like...what if it is really true?)

Maybe I am being overly analytical here, but those christianity ghosts can be quite tenacious. \:\/

It's only harmful if you consider it harmful.

On the plus side, it might come in handy someday, because you never know when you might be attacked by a vampire.

That said, it would probably be a good idea to also hang a magen david up there, in case you're attacked by a Jewish vampire.

Don't even get me started about what a pain in the neck Buddhist vampires can be...

If you eat enough garlic (or have bad enough breath via other means) even the Buddhist vampires will stay away. As will werewolves, zombies, mad scientists and even the dreaded Jehovah's Witness monsters.

For the record, I have one overtly Christian picture hanging in my house. It is a picture of a small black boy kneeling beside his bed, in prayer. On the other side of the bed, also kneeling, with folded hands, is Jesus. The reason I have it up is because my parents gave that picture to us when they traveled from SC to see their new grandson, for the first time. Because of the history between my parents and I concerning creating a family of more than one race, that picture holds meaning devoid of any reference to Christianity. It represents the willingness of my parents to accept something that has been alien to them.

The true test that one has found closure with their religious past is the ability to view it’s symbols with the same neutrality as any other cultural artifact. They have no power in and of themselves. They especially have no power over one not held by the sway of the represented religion. Since my son has absolutely no Christian baggage to work through, it would be hateful for us to dispose of a gift given to him by his grandparents. As Dragon Dancer stated, if a cross is causing so much ambiguity, there is certainly still a connection with Christianity. Satanism has an adversarial relationship with Christianity. As such, there is no greater power over another than to deny it’s symbols any meaningfulness.

But if you really need to get it out of your system, I suggest this: http://www.divine-interventions.com/mary.html

Christian symbols are chock full of sexual references. You would be hard pressed to find of picture of Jesus that is not feminine…with pouting lips, blue eyes and great hair. Mary is usually hot. And then there is…sweaty fishermen taking off their shirts, Jesus washing feet, a woman washing Jesus’ feet with her hair (“feet” was an Old Testament euphemism for the genitals), the frequent use of lilies, roses and other flowers (rose bud), John laying his head on Jesus lap, constant fixation on virgins. If anyone has had the pleasure of witnessing a “holy roller” meeting, you know that there is little visual or audio difference between someone being “filled with the spirit” and having an orgasm. It has been noted that during times of “revival” there are as many souls begotten as begotten again. Those buggers are obsessed with sex! Jesus being stripped, beaten, tied up, a “sword” entering a gash.

Come on!

I agree - I went to an exibition of Raphael's paintings a couple of years back and ended up purchasing a post card of one of his paintings with Jesus looking extremely hot dressed in just a loin cloth and the crown of thorns which I pinned to my work cubicle wall. Jesus with a six pack, yum yum.

Ya learn something new every day.

The rest was familiar, but that was new.

There used to be an ad running on local TV from a church in Abbotsford where the skit was two girls in a laundromat and one is reading the paper. The other teases her, saying something to the effect of "Are you still searching for the perfect man in the personal ads? C'mon!"

The first one says that no, she's found him and her friend just HAS to hear this ad. 'I would die for yoou. I will love you unconditionally...' and so on ad nauseum.

The two girls then start fighting over the paper with much "I want him" "Gimme the ad" "No, he's mine!" etc (with a lot of orgasmic squealing to boot) and then the video slowly overexposes to a pure white screen saying "Jesus: The Perfect Man" and the contact info for this church.

Actually, several years ago I wrote an essay about the use of sex and fetishism to sell Christianity, which for the last year was "lost" with a lot of my old writings because they weren't compatible with my Mac, but I just got tipped off by a friend that if I upload those documents into Google Docs I can then reformat them and download them in a working manner to my Mac without having to buy any shitty Microsoft programs. Maybe one of these days I'll post some of those, albeit with some updating and editing - after all, that piece was written long before the S&M porn spectacular that was "The Passion of the Christ".

I thought she moved on to bigger and better movie roles. ;\)

Then again, I haven't heard much about her since, so maybe the vampires got to her.

Ah, no - that was Sarah Michelle Gellar \:\) Buffy is still doing what she does best, Dark Horse is publishing what they call season eight. It's written by Joss Whedon and considered to be canon. Currenly Brian K. Vaughan is filling in with a short story about Faith.

So since I don't want to carry a cross I've put up a Buffy poster in my bedroom to discourage any vampires \:\)

That would be interesting to read.

I am reminded of recurring dreams from childhood. Jesus was on the cross, naked, and his divine rod would have made John Holmes envious. It was very menacing. Sometimes, with loinclothe, he would would come off the cross and chase me. Other times he would come out of religious pictures. Sometimes he would turn into my father.

Why? Because Christianity is constantly giving off strong sexual vibes, while, at the same time, repressing any conscious, healthy way of expressing said sexuality, save the confines of matrimony. The reason he turned into my father is obvious..."Our Father..."

That mix is very unhealthy. It was more so at the age when hormones begin to flow, and one is trying to figure out what to do with them. The message of Christianity is "Eat this! Now...you must be punished." It is full of repressed sexuality, incest and brutality...Welcome to the average American family.

So as to be an equal opportunity offender...I also have a statue of Buddha, because he looks calm...some Hindu dress, because my wife's "adopted brother" is Hindu...and a Minnorah, because it reminds me of Sarah Silverman...I really, really like Sarah Silverman.

I guess both of those. I still find both bibles (christian and Satanic) an intresting piece of reading material.

Aye, my mother is still the head of the group that educates the 12 years olds for their second communion so she's hightly christian but she doesn't talk much about it to me. I guess she accepted that I chose not to be christian when I refused to go to the Christmas mass with the rest of the family.

It won't get me into trouble other than maybe with my mom but that's highly unlikely since I don't care what she thinks about it and she knows that.
