Since I have experience being a goofball I thought I could do some commentary on the subject.

It is a fine line to tread, trying to keep an air of delightful charisma while tripping over ones own feet. Lose the charisma and you look like a compleat ass.

A well aimed cream pie here and there. Make sure your target is in on the joke or the tone in the room can drop to a hushed tension.

Sometimes the right expression seals the deal. Professional clowns know this technique well and have developed painted expressions that put their entertainee in the desired emotional mood.

Good clowns can be good fun. What is a good clown? Well, for certain, a good clown knows exactly what they are doing. Their seemingly clumsy behavior is indeed precisely calculated. It is an exact science, if you will, as it were.

All in all there is quite a bit to admire in such an individual. As a clown is indeed that, an individual that is. That is to say that there is little to suggest that clowns accidentally fall into their profession. It takes determination and great skill to become a successful clown in our day and age. For that, good clowns have my respect.

The bad ones? Well, I've never seen a bad clown really.

It's kinda weird, because clowns are sort of scary - Pennywise from "IT" was scary to me. But at the same time the classic italian clown act is in some ways very much the opposite of what Satanism is about.
You have the white clown, which is the refined aristocratic persona who tries to accomplish something artistic, like playing a musical instrument or something similar. And then you have the two who do all the funny stuff, I think they are called Augusts, which again is weird since "august" would be something refined and they are really caricatures of peasants.
So the fun is always at the expense of the character that we should actually be identifying with. But then again perhaps we find him funny because he is the one unable to be humerus about himself?

"Coulrophobia" is fear of clowns.

In some cultures, pagan gods have human heads; but sometimes, instead, they look basically human, but with colored skin - yellow, red, blue. Shiva the Destroyer is the ultimate clown.

From reading this thread, I just thought of doing a google search for zombie clowns and came up with a link to an interesting video game! Killing time video game

Reprobate: Here's a quote for you from that same link!

"Zombie Clowns: Tess Conway in celebration of her achievements hired a troop (small army) of clowns, who were later turned into zombies. You'd think that a zombie clown would be terrifying but they're actually one of the most absurdly designed enemies in the game. Not especially dangerous they can be taken out easily with the crowbar, but they're never alone. Nevertheless their bark (a mad giggling) is worse than their bite."

Actually, I don't like clowns much either...

I've come to really love clown imagery, mainly because so many people seem freaked out by it. I have a Bozo bobble-head statue in my car's rear window, which seems to keep most tailgaters away.

In one book (The Pop-Up Book of Phobias) I read that some people's coulrophobia might be rooted in the fact that children are told from a very early age not to trust strangers, yet are then expected to give their full trust and hang out with these strangers in greasepaint.

I know a clown. She loves making children happy, performing, and makes good money on top of it all. Everyone laughed and joked when she first started, but this grew to respect when her business boomed, winning several awards, and the whole city knew who she was (and they all loved her).

I will always remember the wonder of the circus when I was a child. The showmanship was over the top. I even got to meet the late Tiny Tim at one of them \:\)

Haha, I almost forgot about that movie. Last time I saw it was when I was seven or eight. (Desensitized little bastard I was.)

I remember that they cocoon people in cotton candy, and drain their blood or something. Man, Dr, thanks for posting this...the video in particular I remember was on the end of the VHS version, after the credits.

Good memories..

Clowns scare Me.

They aren't funny, the big shoes and the red nose does not impress Me.

I'm glad there are clowns out there that can make children happy, however, I was not one of those children and to this day they creep Me out.

I plan to steer clear of the Thrillvania clowns in the future....

I have never been afraid of clowns. Nor was I ever amused by them. With the exception of one. I love Pennywise.

A little dental work wouldn't go amiss, though. \:\)

Go to an Insane Clown Posse concert.

I am currently at Job Corps and all I hear around every corner is "Juggallo" this and "Juggallo" that. I find it interesting (As infuriating as it is) to know that a new religion was born when two mental defects from detroit started and failed a white rap group and then at the threat of thier own lives if they didn't stop, they came up with an origional idea. All in all I get more than fed up with groups of pre-teen children with painted faces talking about how "hard core killer clowns" are.

If you want to see a bad clown then trust me they are out there and the idea itself has ruined clowns for me forever. \:>

Clowns aren't funny. You know why people laugh at clowns? Because no matter how much life sucks at that moment, at least you aren't a clown.

Clowns have always weirded me out. Not scared me, necessarily... just made me feel creepy.

Maybe because there is no way to see their true emotion, and they can be hard to figure out.

That could be the reason clowns intimidate me and give me funky vibes.

They taste funny, too. That's why cannibals won't touch 'em.
