Of course it's amusing to see a xtian festival banned, but what will be banned next?

It's no coincidence! "Pancake Day" is the traditional day for finishing off the last of your sugar and butter (by making pancakes) before the Lent fast begins. The French would do the same with their lard - hence "Mardi Gras".

I had pancakes, although (to my shame) they were the ready made kind you heat up in the microwave. Also due to lack of weightwatchers points for the day they were plain (no sugar or chocolate syrup as the Lord intended they should be). Still, nice though.

I am out of the loop, as far as Christian holidays are concerned.
When I first read this thread, yesterday, I assumed it was some sort of joke, so I played along.
I mentioned it to my family and they had that, “I knew we forgot something look”. My son likes to make banana crepes on that day. We will do so tonight.

As a side note…today is Ash Wednesday. There are people walking around here with ash on their forehead. I am taking bets as to how long I can resist the temptation to lick my finger, say, “You have a little something on your forehead”, and wiping it off.

It was quite yummy.
