This particular thought occurred to me after I worked a cardiac arrest (where the patient did not survive). If a Church member dies suddenly, does a Priest/ Priestess need to be present for a Satanic funeral? If so, how are those arrrangements made? What rite is done?

There is no need for a CoS official to be present during or following the death of a Satanist because we do not believe in an afterlife and no "last rites" are administered.

Funeral arrangements are made by the deceased in advance and communicated to those who survive him, or are at the discretion of his survivors. In a case where a Satanic funeral is chosen, we have a funeral rite that is currently only available to the members of our Priesthood.
