Ok so I know that the Satanic Bible mentions a couple of people who were apart of Norse Mythology. My question is though, can the two coexist? I really enjoy both. I believe I read somewhere that the similarities are astounding. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As long as you recognize that it's just mythology then have at it.

Your take on Satanism could include any mythology you'd like; instead of Satan, you could have Loki. But, I wouldn't put any sort of credence into actual belief of the deities, personally speaking.

It's all metaphors for human behavior; whatever images, symbols, moods, archetypes, etc. appeal to you is what you should foster and adopt.

For an example of changing of mythologies, I highly recommend the "Rite of Ragnarok" in The Satanic Scriptures by Peter Gilmore, or "A Piece of the Action" in Magister Nemo's, The Fire From Within.

If you have not done so, you may want to read "The Satanic Rituals".

All I'm askin is, is it kosher for me to be a Satanist and a lover of Norse mythology. I mean can I get tattoos and such of vikings and still be considered a practicing Satanist. And for the record, I just got both The Satanic Scriptures and The Satanic Rituals. Just haven't got to readin them yet.

No, sorry - viking tattoos are reserved for scandinavian Satanists coopdevil

... just kidding. I think Wolf Landon already answered your question really.

I'd like to add one expression from Magister Nemo that Satanism is an engineering religion, which to me means that if you feel that the aestethics of norse mythology and the history of the vikings works for you, then you should apply it. Make your own total environment, drink mead, eat roast pork, sing songs in ancient tongues smile

I don't think I've heard the expression "practicing Satanist" before. Your use of that, as well as "kosher" suggests that perhaps you are still thinking along the lines of the judeo-christian religions. If you find that your interest leads you to commit any Satanic sins or question the basic tenets of Satanism you should use your own judgement as to whether this was a mistake that needed to be corrected or a realisation that you are something else than a Satanist.

I'd "get to readin' them" as soon as you can...along with The Satanic Bible, The Satanic Scriptures is in my opinion, one of the key pieces of literature for ANY Satanist to own, whether just starting out or not.

Listen. I've read the Satanic bible. I'll be the first one to tell you that I'm still very new to this, very new. I do believe it is something I see myself living for a very long time. As far as my use of "practicing Satanist" and "kosher," they were just my attempt to get my point across. Apparently it didn't work. I'm not trying to get a big fuss started or to make it seem like I know everything there is to know, especially about Satanism. I simply wanted some opinions. Not to be made to feel stupid or lesser.

Was that directed towards me?

In no way was I attempting to make you feel lesser, or stupid. If that is how it came across, I apologize.

No no. It wasn't directed at anyone in particular. Like I said I just came looking for answers. Thank you though.

Ah. For clarity sake, it is best if you select "new reply" at the top bar, instead of using the "quick reply" box at the bottom of the page; quick reply will automatically reply to the last user who posted, and can make things confusing. Also, if you are replying to a specific user, select "Reply" under one of their posts to do so; then it will be clear that you have done so.

HS!

Vikings a cool!
I'd prefer the badass Romans though, but if it is Viking and Norse tattoos you want, I'd say go for it and knock yourself out! devilchili
