In retrospect I am feeling a bit guilty for hammering on someone who gets it right, despite the obviousness to those of us who have been 'round these parts since the world was new. Perhaps our too cool for school attitude needs a bit of adjusting. I mean, we did just give someone shit for proper definitions, thereby forcing them into a defensive position which we likewise slammed.

I am not feeling too good about myself for that, actually.

XUL, perhaps if you'd read slightly more of the forum prior to posting you'd have noticed that those here for any length of time get the message you posted inherently and innately. That said, your post's title should have alerted readers that you were making a statement of how those obvious facts were effecting (and affecting) YOU.

I apologize if my smarmy statement in anyway made you feel LESS like you had come home.

Interesting or not; I find that "book smart" is worth about 10% of your survival skills. "Street smart" counts for a good 50... but that which really puts everything in its place is your ability to deal with nature. "Nature" may seem like a quaint concept to modern day city people, but it is there. It is waiting. It will find your cracks and expand them. You WILL have to deal with it.

So what does "smart" mean? (Apart from being something in your opinion, like for instance an example of somebody who did somehing that you think admireable.)
