I love watching stuff like this, since it shows just how easy the average person is to control. Sure, there's probably a whole ton of stage magic going on in order to effectively suggest such a large group of people, but the payoff is absolutely worth it.

Magicians say the most important psychological aspect of their art is suspension of disbelief, but why suspend it when you can remove it entirely?

I find televangelists kind of fascinating. The fact that it IS all show business, that there are these things that go on behind the scenes which no one sees, all the while invested in this idealized holy image.

I think though the most effective preachers are the hell and brimstone ones. They're more emotionally evolved in their work anyway and have more of an evocative quality.

Incidentally, I'm also a fan of this guy.
