Metal Journalist JOEL GAUSTEN Takes On DAVE MUSTAINE, WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH in New Audio Interview
Author and veteran drummer Joel Gausten (Pigface / The Undead / Electric Frankenstein) was the special guest on the May 22 installment of the Classic Metal Show (www.cmsradio.net
). During the 38-minute interview with show host “Neeley,” Gausten shared his often-strong views on a variety of topics including his book “From Satan to Sabbath: The Metal Interviews 2000-2009,” the infamous Judas Priest “subliminal message” trial, the current state of Aerosmith, the recent passing of Ronnie James Dio, Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine and the Westboro Baptist Church. Additionally, Gausten discussed his longtime affiliation with the Church of Satan
The complete interview can be heard at www.gaustenbooks.com/cms2010.htm.
On Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine’s Born-Again Christianity, Gausten said: “I understand he has had some issues over the years, where he was asking for bands to be taken off certain bills that Megadeth was on. I think Rotting Christ was taken off a bill that Megadeth was sharing because he objected to their lyrics. That’s bullshit.”
On the Westboro Baptist Church, who are notorious for picketing soldiers’ funerals and recently protested at Ronnie James Dio’s memorial service, Gausten said: “Obviously, they’re f**king nuts – the entire lot of them. You don’t picket a dead soldier’s funeral. That’s just the lowest form of human activity, or at least one of them…”
One the most popular Metal-related radio programs on the net, the Classic Metal Show has hosted a variety of legendary guests including Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath/Heaven & Hell), Charlie Benante (Anthrax), John Bush (Armored Saint/Anthrax) and Doro Pesch.
