I was just wandering how Anton LaVey came to the title of Dr LaVey. Its a term i use in discussions, and a term i have heard others use, but am unsure why....or rather, how he came to hold that title.

A doctorate is often awarded to someone who writes a thesis.
It is an honourary title bestowed upon him as a mark of respect within the Church of Satan for his thesis on Satanism - Tha Satanic Bible.
