Here is the real problem.
And I have seen this pattern happen over and over again through the years.
Before the Renaissance Enlightenment the civilized world as a whole held faith-based religion to be their God.
Then with the Enlightenment the civilized world came to hold experiment-based science to be their God.
The answer to the problem with both of these simplistic choices which Satanism overcomes is to reject ANYTHING external to ourselves to be our God.
In other words, the assumptions of religion and science have often been demonstrated to be either wrong or incomplete over time.
To assume any such external authority's opinion will be permanently correct THIS TIME is to indulge in a faith-based belief.
Satanism is HIGHLY pragmatic.
We are not involved with a declaration of "truth".
We are entirely involved with discovering and applying what is USEFUL.
This leaves us FREE OF THE FEAR OF BEING "WRONG"!
When what we have already assumed is demonstrated to be incorrect, we simply take that into account and push on with applyIng "what works" EVEN IF WE CAN'T EXPLAIN WHY IT WORKS.
Working with magic has been USEFUL to many Satanists.
We do not claim that it is TRUE.
We do know that for many of us it WORKS.
Further many of us have learned that it is not productive to argue with those who disagree with what we have discovered is practically useful for ourselves.
So to the degree you might be defending a view of certainty (that may in time be also proven incorrect if history offers us any guidance on such things) you might take that into consideration.
A disbelief in something is still just another belief - a belief that something is NOT true.
If you can drop the need to seek or defend "truth" in favor of doing what might be practically useful then you will be able to drop the disbelief in ritual (or anywhere else for that matter) that will almost certainly block any truly useful results.
But be clear to yourself that when you are questioning "what the hell are you doing" if trying to do ritual then you are coming from a defensive perspective and trying to protect Newton and his kin or, worse, trying to not feel embarrassed about what others might think of you for daring to test something that seems "unscientific".
I created a complete audio program Discovering the Satanic God
to help guide Satanists away from this conundrum of making something external your God. I found that it simply takes more than 40 minutes to explain this clearly.
It may be necessary to create a follow up audio program to elaborate on magical ritual specifically but if you really "get it" then the current program should do the trick.
