I noticed that when an arsehole gets banned and his name is turned black that their title will be changed to something like "banned idiot."

I was wondering if, in cases where the idiot has an avatar, we might have a bit of an extra laugh by digitally altering the avatar so that they also wear one of those pointy "dunce" hats. You know with the big "D" on the front. And also possibly make it so that the picture cannot be removed until Magister Ventrue himself is ready to do so himself.

Your heart's in the right place, Moley, but I think there might be legal problems with this. Rev. Ventrue doesn't own the pictures people upload. They remain under the copyright of the person who took them.

Technically, if the Powers That Be were to do what you suggest, someone would have to explicitly request we take the picture down (like a cease & desist order); but it's better not to provoke that kind of response in the first place.

Altering the photo to parody the banned user in question might fall under the rules governing Fair Use, but I don't really see the need to waste the time altering them in the first place.

I agree with LKRice - I always thought that a satire was within fair use, and a dunce cap would most certainly fall into that category.
