From my understanding and research i did on that book, it is completly false, it was created for the soul purpose of drama. It was one of the biggest frauds wrote by the publishers, they thought it was a good idea to write a book that would capture the imagination of its readers. Neither the mad Arab nor the spells are supposedly real. And there does not exist a real scroll as the book also depicts exists in the very beginning.
