I just thought I’d wish everyone here a Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Why? In America, for the most part, St. Patrick’s Day is a pagan bacchanal, completely devoid of deeper cultural meaning. It is a Dionysian celebration of spirits (or specifically, beer), merry-making and anonymous sexual activity—a natural and necessary release of tension virtually devoid of social obligation or pseudo-reverence. For the masses, it simply is what it is—a big party, whose symbolic mischievous imps, the leprechauns, are symbols of good luck, wealth, prosperity and cheer—if you can catch them, you’ll get that capitalist pot ‘o gold. Even the prudes join in, via the ‘wearin o the green'--while running errands, or at the office. (Incidentally, green was the color most frequently associated with homosexuality from ancient times until the 20th Century—whisper that in the ear of a drunken frat boy for me. ) I’d like to wish you all the ‘luck ‘O the Irish,’ and hope those of you who are so inclined indulge yourselves responsibly, with a knowing smirk, enjoying that fact that this fine carnal celebration of Life is in accordance with the true nature of man, and largely undefiled by white-light bullshit. Hail Satan!

How fitting then that my birthday be in conjunction with it. I'm a green child. I love me some green beer, turning 23 today.
Birthday on a pagan holiday... LaVey was right. Satanists ARE born. Hail Satan!

In the north of Ireland, where I live, sadly some people still try to politicize the occasion (here religion by and large goes hand and hand with poiltics - another reason why I don't vote!). But thankfully most people just enjoy the occasion, and indulge in a few shandies, or just kick back and enjoy the day of work, like myself. Mind you, I probably would have had a few drinks today, but I am still recovering from a little session that kinda got out of hand the other night!
Cheers all the same!

Ninkasi ("The Lady who fills the mouth") She is the goddess of brewing or alcohol, born of "sparkling-fresh water". (Kramer 1963 pp. 111, 206) She is one of the eight healing children born by Ninhursag for Enki She is born in response to Enki's mouth pain and Ninhursag declares that she should be the goddess who "sates the heart". (Kramer 1961 p. 58) (see http://beer.tcm.hut.fi/Misc/SumerianBeer.html ) Happy St. Patricks Day! Or, Whomever's day.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you too! This holiday coincided with "Culture Day" at my school, which was rather humorous because you could tell if a person cared about their own culture, or St. Patrick's day. And then there were the actual Irish (a miniscule percentage here) who were dressing up like leprechauns.
