Easter time, it's that hypocrite time of the year again, when they require one minute silence at 3 in the afternoon to remember the suffering of christ, overhere they call it 'good Friday the friday before Easter. I think tomorrow afternoon i have a loud session of Mercyful fate..it's a tradition here in Belgium,i don't know about other countries.

I like Easter, I always get lots of Jesus DVD's and merchandise from the Mormons that I can sell on ebay.

I like Easter for the abundance of yellow marshmallow Peeps.
And, as a child, for Easter, my Grandmother always bought me an expensive, pretty, flouncy dress and shoes (...just a little Satanist in sheep's clothing).

Tomorrow is Good Friday--a great reason to celebrate! It's the day they finally got him! Hail Caesar! Hail Satan! [Someone said that here one year (maybe Magister Nemo?), and I love rolling that one out for sympathetic co-workers. Came in handy just now, as we were discussing our office Easter pot luck. Obviously, I have a book to read...] Also, as folks around you lovingly crack open their new "re-cut" (as opposed to "uncut"--which would be more appropriate considering its anti-Semitism) versions of "Passion of the Christ," now might be a great time to read or re-read Magus Gilmore's review of the film. The phrase “Penitentes Gone Wild!” always gives me a chuckle.

I love this time of year. This is the time of year when catholics won't eat meat. Which means that Long John Silvers is packed every Friday, as well as Red Lobster. So what do I do? Well, my Long John's is the Long John / A&W type. So I go on in and get me two double cheeseburgers and sit down where as many people as possible can see me and enjoy the shit out of them. Or my friends and I will go to Red Lobster and all order the biggest steaks they have, medium rare, and discuss (in our "outside" voices) just how tasty the steaks are. I just love the looks the little catholics give us. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Easter is a good time for chocoholics. There's a wholesale/offbrand store locally (BigLots) that sells every imaginable kind of stuff, including Easter chocolate, at a huge discount. Right after Easter, it's so cheap I could kill myself eating $5 worth!!! Besides, I like the idea of the Easter Bunny... a monstrosity of genetic engineering if there ever was one. A temperate zone mammal... that, like a bird, lays eggs... that are made of tropical chocolate. Surely such a trans-genus chimera is the work of... I don't know... could it be... SATAN???

Helium II is a superfluid, a quantum mechanical state of matter with strange properties .
The thermal conductivity of helium II is greater than that of any other known substance, a million times that of helium I and hundred of times that of copper. This is because heat conduction occurs via a quantum mechanism.
Second sound is a quantum mechanical phenomenon in which heat transfer occurs by wave-like motion, rather than by the usual mechanism of diffusion. Heat takes the place of pressure in normal sound waves. This leads to very high thermal conductivity. It's known as "second sound" because the wave motion of heat is similar to the propagation of sound in air.
Sound waves are fluctuations in the density of molecules in a substance; second sound waves are fluctuations in the density of phonons. Second sound can be observed in any system in which most phonon-phonon collisions conserve momentum. This occurs in superfluids and in dielectric crystals when Umklapp scattering is small.

Ha-ha! I like your idea! In Russia, easter celebrates in May, from 1st to 5th - because it's an orthodox xtian easter. I'm glad to have a free day after Walpurgy, and not to go to the work But when everybody around you stupidly repeating, that "someone revived" - it's... Just image it - absolutley unknown drunk man coming to you at the street and shout: jesus revived! - Deam, I'll better stay home at that days! HS!

I thought it was called "Good" because we had no school that day?
I did the family get-together thing until the time my Catholic parents moved out of state, which then gave the opportunity to spend the day in a different way. 2003 was particularly memorable. I slept late, had wild sex with the lady I was seeing at the time, we enjoyed a big brunch at a Jewish deli, then bought a bunch of eclectic candy at an ethnic shop next door. Best Easter I ever had. No contest.

>>I always enjoy Good Riddance Friday!
Heh, I'll have to make a little caret (^) and write in that second word on my calendar. I can't say I do anything unusual on the day, except maybe make a point of listening to the Black Crowes song "Good Friday". Though I have more fun on Ash Wednesday, rubbing my forehead while telling the Catholics "Hey, you've got something right here in the middle of your forehead".
True story: back in Catholic school I had to attend a Catholic mass for Ash Wednesday and the priest, with his microphone hooked up to the PA for all to hear, said "We will now distribute the asses. [Long pause.] Uh...the ASHES."

lol, I think it's a travesty not to take advantage of this. They are buying Jesus merchandise like crazy on ebay during Easter, and you can keep phoning up The Church of Latter Day Saints for more complimentary Jesus DVD's and postcards... etc.
I made about £94 last year, which isn't that much, but bearing in mind that it was clean, expense free profit, I will always raise a glass to my dear friend Jesus for picking up the tab when I bought my ipod.

What I enjoy most about Easter is the Christians taking part in celebrations that, at the root, are pre-Christian celebrations of spring and fertility. Blinded to their own ruse. Watching them revering the reproductive powers of rabbits, fetching ovums into their baskets, and feasting on known aphrodisiacs... it's a beautiful time of year. Gives a new meaning to the term "Christ is Risen!" Too bad we'll need to wait until May to watch them dance around the giant phallus. Though, I've noted some of those "big-eared" bunny chocolates have quite large "ears" indeed! No amount of proselytizing can erase human nature! Hail the Carnal Human! Hail Satan!

The only thing I'm allergic to, aside from Brazil Nuts, is Easter Lillies. When I get ear them I turn red and I can't breathe.
I happen to live very closed to a city billed as "The Easter Lily Capital," where they grow millions of them. Of course, they are all blooming. I can hardly go outdoors.
I hate Easter. If "April Fools Day" wasn't already taken I'd change it's name.

HAVE A HAPPY ZOMBIE DAY!!!! I totally dig Good Friday, 'cause it's like totally Goth, dude. I also like to put the sound of nails being hammered into wood on my answering machine. When I was living with my family, every single goddamn Easter I would get a splitting headache : Church in the morning, goddamn Easter hat, fucking sunlight, pastel colors, and chocolate on an empty stomach. Fuck Easter! Hail Satan! Ortrud

Tomorrow is Good Friday, the day that you "can't" eat any meat! (at least acording to Catholic tradition, because if you eat meat it's like you are eating The[ir] Lord Jesus Christ!)
So, just to be against the norm, tomorrow I will buy a nice, greasy, suculent tripple cheeseburger, for my lunch. I love the faces of horror of coworkers and people around me.
Hey, look, I'm eating your god! Mmmm and it tastes good! Yum, yum!

And, as a child, for Easter, my Grandmother always bought me an expensive, pretty, flouncy dress and shoes (...just a little Satanist in sheep's clothing). That’s what Easter was for me too. But you forgot to mention those pretty Easter bonnets, and little purses, oh and the gloves... Being the little witch that I was, it was also lots of fun to twirl around and show off my petticoats and ruffle panties. I used to love the bunnies that were solid chocolate, the hollow ones always seemed generic. gypsy

I agree. My restaurant is always booked up fully in advance with people enjoying the delights that quality seafood has to offer. Coupled with the fantastic weather we are having at the moment, this should be an opportunity for people to unplug themselves from the PC and get out a bit.
Have a good weekend, people, and enjoy yourselves in whatever manner you see fit responsibly!

I use to do what you do also.
I would also slip in and out of church for the free meal. Just nod my head and smile.
Now I enjoy conversing with them.
But I always avoid those controling moments. When they touch your shoulder and try to rope you in.

I don't concern myself with the holidays except for the annoying fact that the shops are closed on monday. As for the rest I will eat myself full with chocolate-eggs and enjoy my own special holiday. Maybe I'll watch the telly and look at the people who crucify themselves. It is slowly becoming a fetish of mine.

"Allow your enemy to define your territory and you will have no place to stand." - An Old Saying I just made up. I wish to be clear that I do not consider Christianity to be an "enemy", by the way. I see that religion and its offshoots (especially Islam) more as entertainment and counterpoint to a sane life. Those of us living in a Western culture (that means you who are reading this on a computer screen!) are living in the historical revisionist aftermath of the largest religion in the world: Christianity. Christianity absorbed all the religions it encountered and through this process of osmosis and revisionism renamed and reframed everything - people, myths and holidays - in a Christian context. That does not mean that their view can "take" all of our holidays unless you "surrender" them. I completely agree with Ravenhael. The Rites of Spring and the Vernal Equinox are ours, unless you surrender anything that anyone prior has attempted to filch in the name of their religion. Enjoy yourself! Indulge! Today, "Good Friday", is now international Mel Gibson Day. (Rake in those millions, Mel!). Sunday is Reverse "Day of the Dead" Day when the king of the zombies rises again to get people to eat his flesh and drink his blood. ("Look! He has risen!" "And he's coming toward us!" " RUN!!!") Now you can surrender this ancient celebration of fertility and new life afer the cold winter to the zombie worshippers or you can whoop it up yourselves! Our ancestors for thousands of years before "JC" had it right. So can you. Have a happy indulgent Spring celebration! Hail Satan!

Yesterday, (Friday), was a perfect spring day in South West England: A warm and dazzling sun, low in the sky. Daffodils in full bloom. Magnolia trees festooned in blossom. Woodpeckers tapping. Lambs bleating in the fields. Small birds making lustful overtures to their mates. The scent of newly mown grass and moist earth. The distant cries of children playing. A late afternoon meal of barbecued organic steak served with a freshly picked wild garlic salad from the garden, steamed purple sprouting broccoli and roasted potatoes. Fine French and Spanish red wines. And chocolate. Oh, and no work.

Talking about easter, i just came back from the local convinence store, and i had no intention of buying sweets or junk of any sort. But surpringly came home with a ton of jelly beans,Cadbury caramel eggs and a stuffed neon pink bunny ( which i plan to add devilish horns to ^-^). It must have been all of the pastel colors that attracked me . As a child i never really celebrated Easter, so i have no connection towards it aside from the candy. To think of it all this candy makes me want to go on an egg hunt. Hail Satan! -Emily
