Today I was accepted into the New Jersey Boys State program. I am posting this not to brag, but to ask if anyone can give me more information on this program. I know it sounds rediculous; I was nominated, interviewed, and accepted, but they were very vague on the details of what happens while at Boys State. From what I could drudge up from the American Legion guys it is a camp over the summer that is 2 weeks long, and is full of physical training, and mock political debate.

Has anyone here ever been accepted into Boys State in any other school? If so I'd like to know what you thought about it, and what you did.

Camp at "Boys' State"? Sounds like it came off the script of a gay porn movie.

I was nominated by a number of teachers. Interviewed by three men from the American Legion, and I just recieved a packet of information detailing every single event that will take place. That is the vague idea I recieved. It would do me well to get feedback from an individual who has actually been there. It is a two week long mock State Government program that the top students of each school are nominated and sent to. That, along with the other stupid details I am given is what I know. All I am asking if anyone here has been nominated and actually went.

It's good if you like politics and you want something fancy for your college resume in this regard. It's good if you want an excuse to travel and be in a new environment for a couple of weeks. It's bad if you hate politics or if you have something better to do at the time or you think you'd be devastatingly bored through the whole thing.

Sounds like a recrutation program from the army. After the motto: If we break your will in this two weeks it will be easy to us to form you to a fight machine.
