Terms of Service

Welcome to The Satanic Network. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Satannet ("Satannet", "we", "us") and govern your use of www.satannet.com, its forums at www.satannet.com/lttd, the Satannet mobile apps, and related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. About the Service

Satannet is a social network for Satanists and people interested in Satanism. It brings together people from many Satanic, Left-Hand Path, and related traditions and philosophies. Satannet is an independent community and is not the official voice of any church or organization unless we clearly say otherwise.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
• You must be able to form a binding contract and must not be barred from using the Service under the law that applies to you.
• You may not use the Service if we have previously banned you.

3. Your account

• Give accurate information when you register and keep your email address up to date. You may use a pseudonym as your display name, but you may not impersonate anyone.
• You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity on your account. Tell us right away if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
• One person, one account, unless we allow otherwise (for example, pages for groups or businesses). You may not sell, transfer, or share your account.
• Your Satannet account is also used to sign in to our forums.

4. Staff connections

Our administrator and moderator accounts are automatically connected to every member as friends and cannot be removed, so that staff can help keep the community safe. This means staff can see content you share with friends. Our Privacy Policy explains this in detail. By using the Service, you agree to these connections.

5. Community standards

Satannet welcomes debate, dissent, dark art, and challenging ideas. Disagree as hard as you like, but treat other members as individuals. You agree not to post content or behave in a way that:

• Harasses, bullies, threatens, or intimidates anyone, or encourages others to do so.
• Shares anyone's personal information without their consent ("doxxing"), including real names, addresses, workplaces, or family details, or "outs" a member's beliefs to people outside the Service.
• Promotes or incites violence, terrorism, or hatred against people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or similar characteristics.
• Involves the sexual exploitation of minors in any form. We report such content to the authorities and ban the accounts involved.
• Shows or promotes real-world cruelty to people or animals, self-harm, or suicide.
• Contains sexually explicit material outside areas, if any, where we expressly allow it, or shares intimate images of anyone without their consent.
• Is illegal, or promotes or helps with illegal activity, including the sale of illegal goods or services.
• Infringes anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights.
• Is spam, a scam, a pyramid scheme, or unauthorized advertising, or contains malware or phishing links.
• Impersonates any person, organization, or Satannet staff, or misrepresents your affiliation with any organization.
• Deliberately disrupts discussions or the community, for example through trolling or brigading.

Religious and philosophical criticism, satire, and blasphemy are not, by themselves, violations of these Terms. Targeting individual members is.

6. Your content

• You own your content. You keep all rights you have in the posts, photos, videos, music, and other material you submit ("Your Content").
• License to us. By posting Your Content, you give Satannet a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, display, distribute, and adapt it (for example, to resize images or format it for mobile devices) only as needed to operate, improve, and promote the Service. This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except for content others have already shared or saved, content kept in backups for a limited time, and content we must keep for legal reasons.
• Your responsibility. You are responsible for Your Content and confirm that you have the rights needed to post it and that it does not break these Terms or the law.
• Visibility. Content you post publicly, including in forums, can be seen by anyone, including people who are not members and search engines.

7. Archived forum content

The forums include an archive of the former LttD forum (2001-2018), which is kept read-only for its historical value. Archived posts appear under the names they were originally posted with. If you wrote archived posts and would like them removed or anonymized, contact us.

8. Moderation and enforcement

We may, but are not required to, review, remove, or restrict content, and we may warn, suspend, restrict, or ban accounts that we believe break these Terms or put the community or others at risk. We decide this at our discretion and may act without notice. If you think we made a mistake, you can contact us to ask for a review.

9. Reporting

Please use the report options on the Service, or contact us, to tell us about content or behaviour that breaks these Terms. If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.

10. Copyright complaints

If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, contact us with: your contact details; a description of the copyrighted work; the location (URL) of the infringing material; a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature. We will remove infringing content and may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.

11. Paid features

• Some features, memberships, badges, page fees, and other items may require payment. Prices and what is included are shown before you buy.
• Payments are processed by third-party payment processors, and their terms also apply.
• Recurring memberships renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds are handled under our Refund Policy.
• We may change prices or paid features in the future. Changes to recurring memberships will apply from your next billing period after we give you notice.

12. Advertising and member pages

Members and businesses may create pages, stores, offers, and community advertisements. They are responsible for their own content, products, and dealings with you. Satannet is not a party to transactions between members and does not endorse them.

13. Artificial intelligence features

Optional AI features may generate text or other content. AI output can be inaccurate or inappropriate. You are responsible for reviewing anything you choose to post, and AI-generated content you post must follow these Terms.

14. Acceptable use of the Service

You agree not to: access the Service by automated means (such as bots or scrapers) without our written permission; collect other members' information; try to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data; interfere with or overload the Service; get around any feature that restricts access or use; or reverse engineer the Service, except where the law allows it.

15. Third-party links and services

The Service may contain links to, or integrate with, websites and services we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices.

16. Ending your use of the Service

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or end your access at any time if you break these Terms, if required by law, or if we stop offering the Service. Sections that by their nature should continue after termination (including Your Content license terms for already-shared content, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law) will continue to apply.

17. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Content posted by members reflects their own views, not ours, and we are not responsible for it.

18. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SATANNET AND ITS OWNERS, STAFF, AND VOLUNTEERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR REPUTATION, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR US $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these limits, so they may not apply to you.

19. Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold harmless Satannet and its owners, staff, and volunteers from any claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.

20. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE], United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be brought in the state or federal courts located in [COUNTY, STATE], and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us and try to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.

21. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will let you know through the Service or by email before they take effect. The effective date at the top shows when these Terms were last updated. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

22. General

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Child Safety Policy, and Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Satannet about the Service. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a provision, that does not waive our right to enforce it later. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
